Great saw, silly people June 13, 2010 H. Sitko (Seattle...literally) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
So firstly i'll preface this with some background about myself. I am a mechanic. I have been interested in work that involves using my hands my whole life. I love figuring out how things work and taking things apart. I do not have a below average intelligence quotient. I don't get confused or stuck in a room when I go to open a door and find it to be locked. I know how to read instruction manuals and frequently do. So, with those things being said I will begin my review.
Firstly i will address complaints about this saw. If your sliding action does not slide easily or smoothly you should read your instructions or at least look at what you are doing. There is an adjustable detent that controls how easy the slide mechanism functions or locks the function entirely. Not tough to figure out. If your saw still doesn't slide easily with that adjusted properly you have something wrong with your unit. Contact Dewalt for repair info.
Everything about this saw is very high quality. Firstly the details. Everything looks nice, and operates very smoothly. The fit and finish of all the components screams quality. The slide action is effortless. Adjustments and the locking components therein are very easy and intuitive to use. Very nicely designed. The power cord is very nice and pliable and of high quality. The dust collector works well and is a nice addition. The saw spins up fast and slows down fast. It cuts very nice depending on what kind of blade you have on it. It does not slow down much during the cut. I'm impressed. My first project was to build some shelves out of cedar and it cut through the boards like butter. Very easy to adjust and effortless to use. I cant wait to get the laser insert. That will make this thing super cool.
In summary. If you have the money and frequently read instructions, this is a fantastic saw. Don't hesitate on this unit. I don't think you will be disappointed. I'm sure not.
JUST WHAT I NEEDED March 26, 2010 Mr. R. W. Pickett Jr. (Montgomery, Al) 0 out of 2 found this review helpful
I have been using this saw for the last five weekends on a home repair project and it is just what I needed. It goes through 2x12's like a hot knife through butter. It is heavy so you need to purchase a folding stand with wheels to move it around and set it up on the work site easily.

Tools purchased from the big box stores are subject to inferior manufacturing thus rendering the reviews of such tools inaccurate.
One of the Best on the Market March 21, 2010 P. Anzalone (USA) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I don't understand how people could not review this saw at 4 stars or more. It is one of the best sliders out there. I have had absolutely NO accuracy problems using the slider. As for dust collection, yeah it is poor, but seriously what 12" miter doesn't create a ton of dust. Accuracy was near perfect right out of the box. Included blade is OK for rough cuts but I would invest in a fine cut blade. The start up and brake on the saw have a great feel, I really like the belt design having the motor out of your way. Again, great saw and if people are really having some of the issues they claim, then I think we must have gotten two totally different saws because I would buy this saw again in a heartbeat.
